BRS GOLF APP UPDATE

BY admin March 31, 2022

Today BRS Golf will be making a small change to its member tee time booking app for Apple users who have not updated to the latest version of the app. They will no longer be able to use these older versions and will be prompted to update to version 1.7.4 in order to proceed. We need to ensure that all members are making the most of our booking app by ensuring they are on the latest supported version.

The majority of your members should not encounter any disruption to their user experience as this will only affect apple users who have not yet updated to the latest iOS version of the app.
Member impact

Members using older Apple products with iOS software versions below 10.3 will not be able to update to the latest BRS Golf app as their device type is not supported. Older device users will find this across multiple applications as software companies update their technology to accommodate the latest iOS.

We recommend that any members experiencing difficulty using the app after the update should visit the member booking website to book their rounds instead. The member website is now mobile-responsive so will work just like the app on their phone or tablet device.

BRS apologise for any inconvenience this may cause members with older Apple products.

PLANTING OF NEW TREES

BY admin March 10, 2022

You may have noticed that last week we were planting new trees around the course and in total 32 new trees were planted. These improvements are a joint contribution between the members and Synergy Golf.

The new trees are a mix of Copper Beech, Silver Birch, and Liquid Amber, all of which will help aid the drainage of the course and also add definition and character, as well as providing habitat to the local wildlife.

INTRODUCING YOUR 2022/23 MEN’S CAPTAIN

BY admin March 3, 2022

We would like to introduce you to your Men’s Captain for the 2022 membership year. Conor O’Connell (pictured on the left) has been a member of Grange Castle GC for over 16 years and an active Men’s Committee member for the last eight years.

Conor is very excited and privileged to be representing the members as Captain and endeavours to serve you all to the best of his ability.

Welcome Conor and best of luck in your Captaincy.

OUTGOING CAPTAIN’S LOG 3.3.22

BY admin March 3, 2022

Dear All,

After a tough two years with the pandemic and other factors, my term as Captain had ended. It has been an honour to represent the Men’s Club as Captain.

It was a short year, given that it was May before the Committee took office. Despite that, we had a nearly full calendar of events during 2021, Captain’s Day, President’s Day, four monthly medals, inter-club comps, and the Club fourball matchplay.

Congratulations to all the winners of our Club major competitions and a big thank you to all the Inter-Club teams for their endeavours.

Thanks to all the Committee members for their support throughout the year.

I want to take this opportunity to wish both Paddy Hearns & Mark Iveagh who are stepping away from the Men’s committee all the best for the future. During his terms on the Committee, Mark has served as both Captain & President & like Mark, Paddy also served as Captain & President, but Paddy is best known for his role as Junior Convenor, a position he held for the past 14 years.

Thanks also to Synergy Golf, the team in the Clubhouse (Craig, Donal, Colm, Lorcan, and the rest of the team) for their support throughout the year, especially on Captain’s Day.

The Greenkeepers and course maintenance crew for all the work they do to keep the course in excellent condition.
I want to wish Conor, our incoming Captain, all the best for 2022. I hope he has an excellent year,’ and best wishes to Denise Larkin the incoming Lady Captain for her captaincy year.

And finally, I want to thank you, the members, for your words of support throughout the year.

Thank you.
Yours,
Peter Hallahan

LADY CAPTAIN’S LOG 3.3.22

BY admin March 3, 2022

Hi Ladies.

It is a great honour and privilege for me to be Lady Captain of Grange Castle Golf Club for 2022. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing Lady Captain, Catherine Monaghan, outgoing Lady President, Anne Connaughton, and last year’s committee for all their hard work and dedication to the club throughout the year. Despite it being a very difficult time with the challenges of Covid, they managed to have a very full year of competitions, match plays, charity day, Captains and Presidents day which brought great fun and excitement to our club.

I want to congratulate Patricia Thornton on becoming our Lady President for 2022 and extend my very best wishes to her for a great year ahead. I would also like to thank Mary Maguire for accepting the role of Vice-Captain. I know we will work well together and she will be a wonderful Captain for you next year.

I would like to welcome our incoming committee for 2022, particularly our new members, and thank them for agreeing to join the committee. We have an enthusiastic, knowledgeable group of ladies and I look forward to working with them and bringing some new and interesting ideas to the club. For those ladies who are standing down from their role on the committee, I want to say “Thank You” for your hard work and commitment to the ladies club over the years.

There is a slight change to our fixture list which means our year will kick off with a medal on 20th March. Our Captains Drive-in will be on Sunday, March 27th and I hope you will all join me on the fairways to drive our year off to a great start. We have a very full fixture list again this year and have entered for all the Interclub Competitions.

Our Club Liaison Officer, Mary Maguire will be co-ordinating managers and teams. Any members interested in playing on a team and representing your club, please put your name on the list in the locker room. It is a great way to improve your game, get coaching, and enjoy the fun and camaraderie that comes with playing on a team. It would be great to bring back some silverware to Grange Castle in 2022.

We plan on having our Play in Pink Charity Day in September this year. It is such a worthy cause and was a great success last year while adding to the fun and atmosphere of the club. So ladies, get yourselves ready for an array of pink jumpers, shorts (hopefully) pink hair, and whatever else you fancy, and let`s make this a fun day to remember.

I want to thank Craig and the members of the team behind the counter for all their hard work and support, and to the groundsmen for the wonderful condition of the course.

Finally, I want to wish Captain Conor O`Connell, and President Peter Hallahan the very best for the year ahead. Looking forward to working with you both.

Yours,
Denise Larkin
Ladies Captain.
